7 Unique Uses For Apple Cider Vinegar

Stay Healthy!

Meet apple cider vinegar,
your new best friend!

We've put together a stunning list of some very surprising benefits of apple cider vinegar that you may have never known before. For most people, apple cider vinegar is used in salad dressings, marinades, vinaigrettes, and chutneys, among other things. It has a pale to medium amber color and is made by crushing apples and squeezing out the liquid. Fun fact: bacteria and yeast are added to the liquid to start the alcoholic fermentation process, and the sugars are turned into alcohol. In a second fermentation process, the alcohol is converted into vinegar by acetic acid-forming bacteria. Acetic acid and malic acid give apple cider vinegar its sour taste.

1. Sore Throat Anyone?

The acidic environment of apple cider vinegar works well against germs. Mix 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1/4 cup of lukewarm water for an instant germ fighting gargle. Use this easy to make and all natural gargle every hour or so for best results. You can use this preemptively if you feel a sore throat coming on or to help subside one. Ahh, sweet relief!

2. Whiten Your Teeth With Ease

Big Smile

This one will have you grinning from ear to ear. Be careful however, because any acid can remove the enamel on your teeth. Use a diluted solution of apple cider vinegar on your tooth brush and then brush again with regular toothpaste, preferably a non fluoride paste, and then rinse your mouth out thoroughly.

3. Indigestion Correction!

Peppers, tomatoes, onions, grapefruits, orange juice, coffee and soda can all trigger heartburn. Fat such as those from cheeses and meat slow down the emptying of the stomach, distending the stomach and increasing pressure on the esophageal sphincter causing even more heartburn. To help in digestion, try sipping a mixture of 1 tsp. honey, 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar & a warm glass of water 20 minutes before you eat.

4. Effective Skin Toner

Happy Face

Acne be gone! After your daily face cleansing regimen, use a cotton pad to apply the following mixture to your skin: 1 part apple cider vinegar (preferably organic, unfiltered & unpasteurized) to 3 parts water. Depending on skin sensitivity you may need to increase or decrease the amount of water. Start with just 1 tbsp. to get a feeling for what works best for you.

5. Flea and Tick Repellent for Pets

Happy Dog

Take a spray bottle and find a well ventilated area. Inside, combine 4 oz. of apple cider vinegar with 2 oz. of warm water, 1 tsp. of salt and 1 tsp. of baking soda. Be careful to only shake the mixture lightly otherwise the spray bottle could explode. After brushing your pet with a flea comb and carefully removing any ticks with tweezers, carefully spray your pet with the mixture and comb in. For the face area, only spray the mixture onto your hands and gently rub it around the head and ears, delicately avoiding your pet's eyes.

6. Weight Loss

Praise God

Apple cider vinegar can help you lose weight. How? Well, the acetic acid helps suppress appetite, reduces water retention and increases your metabolism. Scientists believe apple cider vinegar interferes with the body's digestion of starch, meaning less calories enter the bloodstream. As always, consult a doctor first.

7. Dandruff Control

Dandruff has several causes, including dry skin, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, sensitivity to hair care products and even a yeast-like fungus. Apple cider vinegar serves exceptionally well for dandruff treatment. Its acidity changes the pH of your scalp, cleansing dead skin cells and making it harder for yeast to grow. Mix together 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1/2 cup of water in a spray bottle and spritz on your scalp. Be careful to avoid contact with your eyes. Then, use a towel to wrap your head and let sit for 20 minutes to 1 hour. Finally, wash your hair as usual. Do this 2 to 3 times per week for greatest results.
